Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival Together | Handmaking Mooncakes & Sharing Care from the Heart

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, mooncake advertisements light up digital screens and billboards across the city. Yet for us, the heart of the festival has never been about the mooncakes themselves, but about reunion, warmth and meaningful connection. For many seniors living alone and vulnerable groups in our community, however, this simple joy can feel like a rare luxury.

To bring warmth to the community, volunteers from the BPS Global Charity Foundation joined hands with Hong Kong Christian Service's "Un Chau OPlus" on Fri 11 Sep. Together with nearly 30 elderly residents from Un Chau Estate, they gathered to make mooncakes and bring early festive cheer to the neighbourhood.

From wrapping the fillings and pressing the moulds to admiring the finished creations, every step was filled with warm conversations and joyful laughter between volunteers and seniors. What would have been an ordinary afternoon was transformed into a vibrant, heartwarming celebration through shared participation.

Making the occasion even more meaningful, these handcrafted mooncakes will be distributed to solitary elders in the local community, passing this festive gesture forward.
